What’s your hook? (1 sentence)
This should include a reference to your inquiry question and also tell your audience what they have to look forward to...
Inquiry Question: Does the maturity of the digestive system affect how long one has allergies?
Main Idea: You can outgrow most allergies by adulthood.
Hook:
What’s the general story of your video? (2 sentences - keep it short!)
All videos should have a story line, so as not to appear like a lecture.
Time lapse/stop motion follows a child as he grows up; he can’t eat a lot of foods as a child because he has allergies to certain foods, but as he gets older he is allowed to eat more and more. The video will represent how people are able to outgrow allergies, and show the approximate amount of time it takes to do so.
Are you using stop motion? Text? Does is look intentionally like a kid made it? Is the editing fast? What’s the mood of the music?
We plan to use stop motion/time lapse photography and soft music to accompany the film. A child will be sitting at a table and, using stop motion, we will have different foods slide across the table to them. The editing will be fast to make it look more smooth like a video, but it will clearly be stop motion.
Anything else? Final Thoughts?
In our video, we will use a second grader as one of the actors so they can be part of the production. We will use what we learned from their interview to make the video informative so we can teach them as much as possible in a simple, understandable way. In the background of the video, there may be voice over or graphics explaining some of the science behind food allergies.
Storyboard:
- When did agriculture begin? How did it change human civilizations?
- Agriculture began about 10,000 years ago but has only been widely established for about 5,000. Agriculture has had profound effects on the human society. Many Paleontologists believe that Homo Sapiens originated about 150,000 years ago, they also believe that many of the Homo Sapiens lived well into their 70’s because they had hunter-gatherer lifestyle and they lived off of fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and healthy fats and they didn’t suffer from diet-related chronic illnesses like many people do today.
- Between 1650 and 1850, something happened to the world’s population: what was it? What enabled this to happen, according to the article?
- Between the years of 1650 and 1850 the worlds population had doubled. The population of 550 million had jumped to 1.2 billion. Many scholars believe that this was due to the improvement that agriculture has made on the nutrition in the crops and how the food that we produced would make us people live longer and wouldn’t cause as many food related illnesses.
- Briefly describe industrialization and mechanization in the U.S. agricultural system in the early 1900s.
- Industrialization and mechanization has only been widely established for less than a century, which is a blip in the long span of human history. During that brief period, the food industry has undergone greater transformation then it has then in the past 10,000 years. In the early 19,000’s more than half of the americans were either farmers or they had lived in rural communities.
- What did agricultural industry concentration do to the industry?
- Industry concentration causes large and well financed corporations to grow even larger by merging with other corporations and having other smaller businesses. Something can also happen known as vertical integration where a single company can control multiple stages of a supply chain of a product.
