Purpose of Lab:
- The purpose was to save Fred so that we could eat him.
- Learn how to communicate with a partner.
Pre-Lab Questions:
- Why is it important to follow an agreed upon procedure for a laboratory experiment?
- It is important to agree on something because you will have a plan to finish your work faster and have a plan and so you don't get hurt or die
- Why is it important to document your procedure, errors you may have made, or differences in actual outcome vs. expected outcomes?
- Because when you mess up you can document it and fix your mistakes and know not to do it again and there might be multiple trials as well
- Why do we normally not have food in chemistry class?
- Your food can get contaminated with your experiment and can get you sick and possibly kill you.
Procedure:
- Lift Fred while I pick up cup and pull out life preserver to rescue Fred.
- Flip Fred's boat and once the boat is flipped over stretch the hole of the life preserver open so that Fred can slip into his preserver with ease.
- Stick Fred into the expanded hole of life preserver then put safely back into his boat.
Data & Observations:
- Gavin and I noticed that when you use the Fred handlers to expand Fred's life preserver it will help with putting Fred in with ease.
- We also noticed that if we didn't flip his boat we would have killed Fred, so flipping his boat was a good idea.
Error Analysis:
- We accidentally had dropped Fred into his boat but he luckily survived the drop because he is one tough worm.
Post-Lab Questions:
- Was one of you more a leader and the other followed, or did you share the responsibility for ideas equally?
- We shared responsibility equally and it allowed us to share ideas and achieve our goal of eating Fred.
- What areas of expertise can you bring to a project?
- I have a lot of good ideas for example the flipping the cup to save Fred which did in fact save his life and if we didn't flip the cup he would have died, and I also thought of expanding the life preserver hole and that did help Gavin and I a lot. I'm also good at listening to other peoples ideas as well.
- How do you feel about conducting lab expire nets?
- I am very open to the idea to a lot of lab ideas/ experiments because I like to collaborate with people and labs are very fun and they teach us a lot .
Conclusion:
- In conclusion, we saved Fred's life only to have eaten him shortly after doing so. But it also taught us how to use or communication skills and come up with a plan so we can do things such as save Fred's life.
